Discover more from Wild + Waste
Last week, I made the decision to begin offering a paid version of Wild + Waste to delve more intentionally (and frequently) into topics of uprootedness, place, and spiritual wandering. In April, my husband and I moved from Denver to San Diego. As I begin settling into a new town, new neighborhood, new house, I’m realizing more than ever the affect sense of place has on our formation.
I have many places on my mind that have been home or have at least played an important part in helping me feel at home—some for brief stints, others for much longer stays. But with physical movement from home to home, zip code to zip code, I am learning to delight in the things that awaken my senses. I am learning how physical movement and sensory experiences can be deeply integral to our spirituality.
The paid side of this Substack will include essays available only to paid readers. In the (near) future, I’d like to explore more offerings like book clubs and conversations via Substack. Purchasing a subscription is a small way to support my writing as an independent writer. There’s also an option to subscribe monthly instead of yearly, or test the subscription with a 7-day free trial. As social media becomes more algorithm-driven than human-driven, I plan to retreat to Substack more and more. In many ways, this has been a resting place for me. And I hope it’s been one for you as well.
If you’re interested and feel so inclined, I’m offering 25% off the monthly or yearly subscription options from now through August 1.

Hi! I just opened your most recent Substack post and saw that you moved here. Welcome to San Diego! I live in SD, on the edge of Mira Mesa near Scripps Ranch (North/central area off 15 and near the marine base if you are unfamiliar). It's fun to find another writer in my neighborhood! If you need any encouragement or advice settling in, please reach out!
