Your words are an encouragement and balm for this fellow obscure writer. That last paragraph, especially. Thank you!

"Do not despise the smallness of your audience." Ugh, yes. As someone who has always clung to that obscure verse, "Do not despise the day of small things," that God whispered over a prophet, this just fits. I turned my downtime back on again today, after several weeks off. Here's to trusting, integrity, and intentionality--even when none of them get applauded, they are still worth it. Thank you for joining the other beautiful voices speaking into this, Sarah. We need all we can get.

That last paragraph. So very hard to rest in that truth.

Hi Sarah. Thank you for your reply. I understand that you would like to communicate that social media influences people's choices and decision making. Your statement that 'the acceptance of some of these beliefs (conspiracy theories) influenced too many to refuse masks and vaccines... Would have been more neutral and nuanced if you stated that conspiracy theories led people to make decisions and choices re mask wearing and vaccine uptake. Conspiracy theories go two ways. Many believe the exact opposite of what you stated... That in fact conspiracy theories led too many to wear masks and take the vaccines.

Whilst I enjoyed most of your essay, I was interested in the way you flippantly brushed off the choice about vaccinations alongside trump and mask wearing ideologies. I personally was vaccinated but have since looked at the science read the research papers and decided I really should have gone on my gut and waited to get a vaccine that was based on a dose of the virus, old style vaccines. There is absolutely science out there to suggest that mucking with spike proteins that change our actual DNA is a completely untested, unverified and very dodgy thing to have done without any prior human trials in the midst of a pandemic. You seem to brush it off as something akin to qanon and trump followers... Dare I say a very American centric view of the world. There are real scientists and researchers around the world actually looking at the effects and side effects on the immune system of the vaccines and real evidence that it has probably not been a good thing for our immune systems. It is NOT an ideology or a thought pattern, but something physical that actually affects our physical bodies and lives.
